Microbial Prospecting

Microorganisms represent the largest pool of untapped genetic and biochemical diversity on Earth. Less than 0.1 per cent of all microbes are currently in cultivation. Thus, the potential for discovery of new biochemical pathways, new genetic capabilities, and new enzymes is tremendous. This research will creat a commercially oriented research and development program to promote bioprospecting for new microbes, genes, biochemical pathways.
